2025 Ford F-250 Diesel vs the Competition

The Ram Heavy Duty lineup was completely overhauled for 2025, now offering more capability along with a more generous interior. With its beefy 6.7-liter Cummins I6, the Ram has the advantage of being newer, but that doesn’t necessarily make it more capable. Let’s see how this shapes up on paper. 

• The F-250 Super Duty’s optional high-output 6.7-liter Power Stroke makes 500 horsepower and a massive 1,200 lb-ft of torque, surpassing the 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque offered by the Ram’s 6.7-liter Cummins I6.  

• Ford’s cabin is roomier than the Ram’s in several key dimensions, offering more front and rear leg and hip room than the Ram 2500.  

• The F-250 Super Duty is the only truck in the segment offered with faux suede interior accents.  

• The F-250 Super Duty Platinum comes standard with lane keeping assist. This feature is not available on the Ram Heavy Duty.  

• Ford’s keyless keypad entry system is optional on the Super Duty Platinum; Ram does not offer a keypad feature.  

• The F-250 Super Duty can be optioned with a rubber bed mat. This is not available from the factory on the Ram Heavy Duty.  

• The F-250 Super Duty Platinum’s power retractable running boards are standard. This is an optional extra on the Ram. 

• Clearance lights are standard on the F-250 Super Duty. They are not available on the Ram.  

• The F-250 Super Duty is offered with an optional first aid kit. This cannot be added from the factory on the Ram.  

• Ford’s standard safety suite includes traffic sign recognition. This feature is part of an optional driver assistance package on the Ram Heavy Duty.

The Silverado is far and away Chevy’s best-selling truck, and the Silverado HD is built with the same level of care as its half-ton counterpart.  Contractors, owner-operators, and weekend warriors alike sing the praises of the big Chevy, which offers a strong Duramax V8 diesel powertrain in a competent overall package. 

• The F-250 Super Duty’s optional high-output 6.7-liter Power Stroke makes 500 horsepower and a massive 1,200 lb-ft of torque, topping the Silverado HD’s 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft.  

• The F-250’s steering wheel is trimmed in leather; the Chevrolet’s has leatherette. 

• Ford offers more shoulder room and hip room (in both the first and second rows) than the Silverado 2500HD. 

• The F-250 Super Duty Platinum comes standard with lane keeping assist. This feature is not available on the Silverado HD High Country.
