A Deeper Dive into The Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid

Electrification is now an option on full-size pickup trucks. Ford proves it has taken a further step to make it all work with the PowerBoost hybrid driveline for the best-selling 2024 and 2025 F-150.
PowerBoost is a combination of a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine, a 10-speed modular transmission with the electric motor integrated into the unit, and a battery pack. The battery pack receives returned energy from braking and keeps it charged for when it is needed to drive the system.
This combined driveline offers a maximum of 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. This is accomplished while maintaining the same Built Ford Tough durability, capability, and reliability as other F-150 series vehicles.
That power translates into honest capability. With the PowerBoost driveline, you can tow up to 11,200 pounds using the standard Class IV hitch. It also delivers a 1,755-pound payload.
The F-150 with the PowerBoost driveline is also more efficient than regular gasoline-fueled models. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, it can average 22 MPG in the city, 24 MPG on the highway, and 23 MPG on a combined loop.

One useful feature of the PowerBoost driveline is a Pro Power Onboard electrical outlet in the bed of your F-150. The PowerBoost comes with a 2.4-kilowatt outlet standard and an option to upgrade to a 7.2-kilowatt unit. The larger capacity unit allows you to use multiple light-duty power tools at the job site while serving up a tailgate at the University of South Carolina football game on Saturday.
In other words, choosing the 7.2-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard setup can comfortably supply power to a home renovation crew, a mobile metal/welding shop, or a mobile repair shop for 32 hours straight – anywhere.
You can access the Pro Power Onboard outlets either with the full tailgate lowered or through the Pro Access Tailgate that swings open at mid-gate. With the latter, you can easily and conveniently plug and unplug your items without the hassle of working around a lowered tailgate.
For 2024 and 2025, the PowerBoost driveline is available on XLT through Platinum Plus trims. Availability has been increased starting from the 2024 model year, thanks to matching MSRP pricing to the non-hybrid 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.
