Ford Dominates the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Initial Quality Study

The measurement of quality comes from how much our customers enjoy their vehicles. These customers look at how well their vehicles are built, the feel of the materials, the fit and finish, and how each feature works to their own high standards.  

Every year, J.D. Power conducts its Initial Quality Study to find out which automotive brands and vehicles are found to meet these high standards and expectations. In its 39th year, this survey reaches owners of 2025 model-year vehicles to look at problems they might encounter within the first 90 days of ownership. They also measure customer service within the same initial timeframe.  

With tens of thousands of responses coming through, the results are in. Four Ford vehicles ranked the highest in their respective segments in this year’s study—the most honors presented of any brand in this survey. In addition, about half of Ford’s models were also ranked within the top three of their segments. 

The best-selling vehicle in the United States—the F-Series—led all full-size pickup trucks in this study. The F-150 was the top-rated vehicle among Large Light Duty Trucks, while the F-Series Super Duty led among Large Heavy Duty models. Both are built with military-grade aluminum cabs and beds, formed on strong steel ladder frames.
