Two 2025 Ford Expeditions On The Edge Of A Cliff, Parked Epically

Ford hit a home run with the latest fifth-generation 2025 Expedition, which recently debuted. Its all-new styling, dynamics, features, and capabilities give it a leg up over its main competitors from Chevrolet and GMC. The new interior is an especially beautiful and comfortable place for all occupants, according to The Drive’s Caleb Jacobs.

Pricing, Trim Levels, and Engines

The all-new Expedition is priced from $67,515 and is available in a standard wheelbase and as the long wheelbase Expedition MAX, and comes in four different trim levels, Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch. The Tremor trim is currently only offered with the standard wheelbase Expedition. The Active, Platinum, and King Ranch trims feature a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 that delivers 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, while the Tremor comes standard with an exclusive High Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost that can also be optioned on the Platinum. It’s shared with the F-150 Raptor and produces 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Amazingly, both engines develop their peak torque at just 3,300 rpm, which means that, especially when towing, the Expedition will easily get up to speed. Both engines are paired with a smooth and fast-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission.

What The Drive Had to Say

The Drive recently took the time to put the new Expedition Tremor through its paces and found it to be stiff competition for the Chevy Tahoe, saying, “Open the door, and the car greets you with a start-up sequence on its big screens. “Ooh, fancy,” I said out loud after seeing it for the first time. The seats are big and comfy, no matter the trim, and it feels like a super open-air space as you turn your head and look back to the third row. A panoramic glass roof certainly helps with that.”

An Interior Packed with Features

Ford managed to design some of the most comfortable seats for the Expedition, as The Drive noted. They also engineered a whole new interior layout that gives the driver and passengers an amazing array of technology and features. A 24-inch display sits at the top of the dashboard in front of the driver and can display multiple things at once, including speed, native Google Maps, and more. A standard 13.2-inch infotainment screen in landscape form replaces the previous generation’s vertical display.

BlueCruise 1.4 Makes Traveling Easier

Drivers will appreciate the hard work that engineers and test drivers have put into making BlueCruise 1.4 better than ever, and the technology makes the Expedition feel like a technological tour de force. Caleb, the author of the review, stated,BlueCruise totally makes sense in a car like the Expedition, given its ethos. It attempts to make your daily drives less taxing, and in my experience, it works. It ate up highway miles like nobody’s business, using the EcoBoost’s punchy acceleration to either glide or gallop past slower cars ahead without ever feeling frantic.”

The Abilities of the Tremor

When testing out the actual abilities of the Expedition Tremor, Jacobs said, “We lined up behind our group leader and proceeded to Trail 5, a BF Goodrich award-winner that, importantly, was not custom-built to show how the Expedition Tremor performs off-road. It had rained for most of the week before we arrived, and in some spots, the route was a complete slosh pit. Big rocks made it bumpy, though I’d hesitate to say ridiculously so … The Expedition Tremor is a mighty beast in the bogs …”

Towing Capabilities

All Expedition trim levels can tow up to 9,600 lbs when optioned with 4WD, except for the Tremor, which drops that down to 9,000 lbs due to its off-road suspension. Both are more than what Chevrolet or GMC offer with the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Yukon XL, which are only able to tow a maximum of 8,400 and 8,200 lbs, respectively, when equipped with 2WD and the base 5.3-liter V8 that only has 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.
