The Platinum Trimmed 2025 Ford Explorer, Parked On A Pretty Beach

Starting with the 1990 model year, the Ford Explorer became the choice for family transportation, helping change the way we comfortably transport our families. For 2025, Ford updated the Explorer with new exterior and interior elements, making it fresh and stylish.

We know you are curious about the 2025 Explorer. Recently, we took a road trip in a Platinum model to tell its story. We took it on the highway to test out a few features along the way. The Platinum trim level not only sports a unique grille, wheel, and trim package, it also offers a choice of performance options, including the 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6.

But first, we have to look at the exterior. The new front end has a large, more rectangular grille with chrome elements, giving the 2025 Explorer Platinum a luxurious look. New LED headlamp units emit solid lighting at night and can be automatically activated. You can also set the high beams to automatically shine when there is no lighting ahead at night.

On the liftgate, LED lighting units are extended partly horizontally across to the Explorer badge. This is a first for Explorer and truly elevates the exterior’s design. Our Platinum model wore 21-inch alloy wheels with that extra flair you require in our most luxurious trim.

Another major update for the 2025 Explorer is inside with a new dashboard design. It mixes great materials with new levels of functionality and information. We enjoyed the clean design of the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, switching it to show various information. We liked looking at trip and fuel economy readings, which came in handy.

The biggest change is the new 13.2-inch Ford Digital Experience touchscreen. Not only is it convenient for the driver, but it has all of the infotainment functions you need and want. For example, you can use your Google account to access all of the functions. Use Google Assistant to help with vehicle functions, navigation, even playing your favorite song. Google Maps is the standard mapping interface for the 2025 Explorer. You can still integrate your smartphone onto the touchscreen. Just connect it wirelessly and use the functions seamlessly.

Speaking of music, listen to your favorite songs through the B&O 14-speaker sound system. The quality of playback and the total immersion of sound will make any road trip a thoroughly enjoyable one. Leather seating in the Platinum is available for six people. You can get settled in for miles on end up and over the Blue Ridge Mountains or down to Charleston. The second-row captain’s chairs not only provide a wide variety of adjustments, but they also make access to the third row very easy with the push of a button. Plus, you have volumes of cargo space that is expandable to 85.3 cubic feet.

We have two favorite features on the 2025 Explorer Platinum. One is the 400-horsepower EcoBoost V6 and the 10-speed automatic transmission. Together they make the drive worth every mile. Just press the accelerator and see it go.

Or you can use our other favorite feature—BlueCruise. This hands-free driver assistance technology enables the 2025 Explorer to drive without any intervention from you behind the wheel. Just keep your hands off the wheel, your feet off the accelerator and brake pedals, and your eyes on the road. Just remember to pay attention to the instrument cluster, as it will warn you to put your hands back on the wheel when necessary. BlueCruise works best along our interstate highways. It makes the run to Greenville and Spartanburg a stress-free occasion.

Put it all together and you have a great three-row SUV. If the 2025 Explorer sounds like your choice for a great SUV, contact us at Dick Smith Ford of Columbia to see one soon. Each new Explorer comes with the Dick Smith Advantage, too!
