The 2025 Ford Explorer Using Blue Cruise To Safely Go Down The Highway

Keeping you on the road safely is something Ford takes seriously. That is why it has been expanding the availability of the BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance technology across its lineup. One of the reasons Ford is committed to providing BlueCruise to its customers is simple: it works the way you want it to, when you need it to.

BlueCruise works on 130,000 miles of compatible roads, where the system uses GPS to read pre-qualified sections of divided or controlled-access roads where this technology will work best. When it senses a compatible road, a prompt on the instrument cluster screen will indicate that BlueCruise is available and ready to assist.

This technology uses Ford’s Adaptive Cruise Control, along with Lane Keep Assist and other driver assistance features, to deploy BlueCruise. This enables your vehicle to stay centered within the lane at the speed you set on Adaptive Cruise Control. When traffic slows down, the system will adjust the speed at the distance you set between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Once it is enabled, take your hands off the steering wheel. However, you may need to keep your hands nearby in case the system prompts you to take the wheel back. Also, it is equipped with a sensor that reads your eye movement. You will be prompted to pay attention and keep your eyes on the road. You will notice how BlueCruise can read the road when it becomes curvy. As the road changes, it maintains a set speed and pace while steering through the curve.

A new feature was added to BlueCruise this year—Automatic Lane Change. When you indicate a lane change, BlueCruise will read the road and traffic around you to make sure it can do so safely through the Lane Change Assist feature. You can manually intervene by taking the wheel to execute a lane change.
