What Is The 2025 Ford Escape Active All About

The 2025 Ford Escape is an excellent SUV for those who need something that sits up a little higher but doesn’t feel too much like a large vehicle. The Escape gets great fuel economy, has a reasonable price for most peoples’ budgets, and is styled nicely both inside and out with plenty of safety technology to give owners peace of mind.
A Base Model That Features More Than a Base Model Should
The base trim level on the new Escape is the Active. While most cars’ base models offer a bare-bones model at a more affordable price, Ford didn’t do that in this case. Instead, the Active trim level features loads of standard features, including dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment screen with Sync 4, a quality 6-speaker sound system, SiriusXM with 360L, privacy glass, and more.

Pricing and Leasing
With its starting price of only $31,340, Ford estimates that you could lease the new Escape Active for just $338 per month for 48 months with a down payment of $3,065. That’s a lot of car for the money. The standard engine is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder that produces 180 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque and utilizes an 8-speed automatic transmission to ensure the Escape is always in the right gear. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can choose all-wheel drive for only $1,000 extra or $355 per month for the same 48-month lease previously mentioned. Most other brands offer AWD for more money than Ford does, such as Toyota and Honda, which offer the feature for an extra $1,400 and $1,500, respectively.

A “Compact” SUV That Has a Ton of Space
Even though the Escape is considered a “compact” SUV, it has 37.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with a maximum of 65.4 cu.ft. when the rear seats are folded flat. That is so large that Car and Driver were able to fit 21 suitcases in the cargo area, and Kelley Blue Book called the amount of space “above average.”
Great Fuel Economy
The EPA estimates that the 2025 Escape with FWD achieves 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Optioning AWD takes that down just a hair to 26 in the city and 32 on the highway. Front-wheel drive models have a 14.8-gallon fuel tank capacity, while AWD models allow for 15.7 gallons. The Active, with its 1.5-liter motor, only needs 87 octane fuel.
Amazingly Safe
In testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, the 2025 Escape received an overall 5-star crash test rating, thanks in part to standard Ford Co-Pilot360 that features Auto high-beams, BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System with lane-keeping assist, lane-keeping alert, and driver alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), which includes pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support, Post-collision braking, and Road Departure Warning
An Affordable Extra Option
For an extra $995, the Escape Active can be optioned with the Tech Pack 1 package that adds Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist+ with Adaptive Cruise Control, Connected Navigation, Evasive Steering Assist, Rear Parking Sensor, Intersection Assist, a Digital Rear View Camera, Enhanced Voice Recognition for the Sync 4 system, and upgrades the 8-inch infotainment screen with a 13.2-inch display. Most manufacturers would price this type of package at $2,000 or $3,000.
