World’s Quickest Street Legal Mustang Dominates Sick Week 2025

The Ford Mustang is one of the easiest and best platforms to modify. Starting out, there are a ton of great engines, from the old 4.6-liter V8 of the ‘90s and ‘00s all the way to the current 5.0 Coyote V8 and EcoBoost 4-cylinder. However, it can be challenging to build a Mustang and still make sure it’s both street-legal and drivable in a normal sense.  

A Drag Racing Competition with a Twist 

Enter Sick Week, an annual event put on by Sick The Magazine, where car builders and modifiers have to drive their cars more than 800 miles to four different drag strips over a five-day period. The kicker is that they also must race their cars at the drag strips and cannot in any way use a support vehicle. If you can’t fit it in your car or tow it with your vehicle, then you can’t have it. Imagine you have built a 3,000 or more horsepower Ford Mustang that is specifically meant to be drag-raced. Then, in order to win at Sick Week, you have to drive said car, with all of its amazing and insane modifications, on public roads, putting nearly a thousand miles on it. 

The Snot Rocket 3.0 

One of the biggest stories of this year’s event was Brett LaSala with his co-pilot, Jim Braun, and his 2011 twin-turbocharged Mustang nicknamed “Snot Rocket 3.0”, undoubtedly because of its neon green paint job. LaSala’s fastest run was a 6.07 second quarter-mile time at 236 mph… that is, miles per hour, not kilometers per hour, in a street legal Mustang. It was possible that Snot Rocket 3.0 could have had a quarter-mile time in the high 5-second range, but sadly, LaSala’s car ended up having a boost issue on the final run.  

An Old Mustang That’s Faster Than Any New Car 

Another notable Mustang that won its class was Ed Ensor, and his 1985 Mustang, which is naturally aspirated. His fastest quarter-mile time was 7.078 seconds at 194.74 miles per hour. To think that Ed built a nearly 40-year-old Mustang into a car that can beat literally any car through the quarter mile, even any electric vehicle currently on the market, and also have the ability to drive it 800 plus miles from drag strip to drag strip. That is a testament on its own.
